Temporary or ad hoc service

If you are a citizen of one of the EU member states and you wish to work in the Netherlands on a temporary or ad hoc basis as a childminder or as a professional member of staff in a child care centre, you are exempt from applying for recognition of your professional qualifications. However, you are obliged to inform DUO in writing.

Temporary or ad hoc service can for example apply to anyone residing temporarily in the Netherlands and who has no aspirations of filling a fixed position.

General conditions

An important requirement for temporary or ad hoc service is that you fulfil all the conditions and requirements for carrying out the profession concerned in the member state of your origin.

In the following year, if you wish again to practise your profession in a temporary or ad hoc capacity, you are required to renew your report once a year.

Regulations for temporary and ad hoc service

Reports of temporary or ad hoc service will be dealt with in accordance with the ‘Algemene Wet Erkenning Beroepskwalificaties’ (the general recognition of professional qualifications act), as detailed in the ‘Regeling erkenning EG-beroepskwalificaties’ (Regulations for recognition of EC professional qualifications). A link to these regulations will follow shortly.
